Transitioning Into Spring

Posted: Wed, 25 February 2015, 14:28

It's that time of year again, Spring. The flowers begin to blossom and the cold wintery weather begins to pass. The sense of pathetic fallacy is amongst every breathing move which spring brings forth. The weather begins to brighten up and so does the fashion.

Moving on from the pastels of Spring 2014, 2015 is introducing a new genre of fashion trends which are only to die for, if you ask me. The light, eccentric colours have transitioned into a new and unique colour range. From dusty blues to blush-toned pinks, these toned down renditions are inevitably going to be a Spring sensation.

The definition of a “perfect dress,” is basically a dress that is fashionable and on trend, whilst still portraying your sense of style and personality. Seems pretty impossible right? Wrong!

Let's Hear it for New York by Material Boy

Posted: Wed, 10 December 2014, 17:50

Once a year, I land in this concrete metropolis known as New York, the city of sky scrapers, lights, sirens, dreams and most of all, fashion! I have travelled the world, and nothing compares to the energy and style that I've experienced in this city. I've been here several times and I feel I discover an entire new and exciting area each time I land in Manhattan! For every fashionista out there, New York is a must! Just walking down Fifth Avenue and Madison Avenue, you will instantly be consumed by the exquisite window displays from Louis Vuitton, Chanel, Hermes, McQueen, Jour, Gucci, Pucci and so much more! Of course, we all can't afford to indulge in this designer paradise but just window shopping will help you get lost in the fantasy of the upper east side. TIP...Make sure to visit Bergdorf Goodman's window display in Fifth Avenue by night...you will be blown away!

American Music Awards 2014

Posted: Mon, 24 November 2014, 13:44

The super glamorous American Music Awards 2014 took place last night in Los Angeles. Celebrities such as Iggy Azalea, Eminem, Sam Smith, Taylor Swift and One Direction turned out in force for this seriously stylish affair. We eagerly awaited the style on the night and picked out our best and worst dressed, along with some style steals.

Our best dressed of the night included Taylor Swift in Michael Kors, Kate Beckinsale in Kaufmanfranco and Rita Ora in Zac Posen. Kate Beckinsale stole the show for us and definitely proved less is more! We are seriously lusting after her stunning all white gown.

Dressing the Curve by Eimear of TheLook.ie

I have had quite a few requests for dressing the fuller figure. I have selected some dresses that are suitable for weddings, communions, confirmations and christenings.

Here are my top tips for dressing your figure.

1. Wear a high heel if possible, the higher the heel the slimmer you’ll look as it elongates your legs and forces you to throw your shoulders back       creating a killer posture!
2. Don’t wear clothes that are too big as this will make you appear larger than what you actually are and render you shapeless.
3. If you are conscious about lumps and bumps invest in some shapewear spanx. If these are beyond your budget Penny’s and Dunnes Stores stock some great ones.
4. Use a good fake tan this will also help you to appear slimmer, healthier and look amazing.

Sixties Closet

People have many different influences and taste when it comes to fashion. What one person loves another may look at and think it's hideous. Some will already know that when it comes to my own personal style there is one dominant source of inspiration and that is the decade of the swinging sixties. For a while now this seems to be the style I'm most drawn to and the one which inspires me most. I've often wondered why it is that this particular trend is so appealing to me and I believe that one of the main factors is my mother.
